If you are based in the Land Down Under and you own a Galaxy Note 4, then you should keep an eye on the notifications panel, as, according to a new report, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is now available in the country. The new firmware is, for the time being, pushed to the unbranded variants of the Note 4.
The information comes from Sam mobile, a publication with a straight record when it comes to reporting about Samsung products. The roll out begins about two months after the same update has been released for the unlocked Note 4 units in Europe.

The Marshmallow update arrives with quite a few improvements and it should be capable of improving your overall Android experience. The new update introduces a new app permissions system which enables apps to ask for permissions when they need to access certain features of your phone, Doze Mode which improves the battery life of your device by putting apps in a deep sleep state, Google Now On Tap which scans what’s on the screen of your phone and pulls out relevant information about the content, automatic app data backup, Chrome Custom Tabs for faster in-app webpage loading, improved Do Not Disturb Mode with custom rules, Deep Linking, Direct Share for faster and smarter sharing with the people you contact more often, native fingerprint reader support, and more. Of course, the update also arrives with Touch Wiz-specific improvements, such as a redesigned app drawer, a white theme for the notifications panel, updated native apps, and support for fingerprint purchases.
As the norm is with software updates, the Australian Galaxy Note 4 owners will get their phones updated to Marshmallow gradually, meaning it would take a while until it spreads to everyone. Usually, when your phone gets chosen to receive the update a message should appear in the notifications panel. Tap on the notification, select ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then select ‘Install now.’ Your phone should automatically reboot and install the new firmware.
In case the system update notification failed to appear, you can also check for it manually under Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update Now. You also have the option to connect your phone to the PC via USB and search for the update via Samsung Smart Switch.
It’s also worth adding that only the terminals that run an official firmware are eligible to receive the update over-the-air or through Smart Switch. If you installed a custom ROM, rooted, or altered the OS of your phone in any way, then you must manually flash the firmware using ODIN software tool.
New Galaxy Note 4 Feature: The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update file should have a size of over 1 GB, so would want to download it using a WiFi network. Also, make sure that your battery is above 50% as you won’t want your phone to shut down during the installation.
